Description
Ximending is one of the busiest areas of Taipei. This drawing was born out of a few reasons: Ximen has a long history and has been a pretty important commercial center throughout many eras. This means it has some impressive Japanese era architecture, but also a lot of really unique buildings from the mid-20th century boom times. Some of those, like Wannian, the former China Times Building, Heroes Tower, and the Bo'ai Building, are slowly becoming design classics. There are also some more secretive sites that are missed by many people, like the large Mazu Temple hidden behind shophouses, and the elegant former Women's Association Building. I've loved finding these places and have long wanted to record them.

My evening social life has been pretty Ximending focused for most of my time here. From Red Square, to Studio 9, to smaller bars in the alleys, there are some pretty good memories here. Many of these places have outdoor areas which I've drawn on. Ximen is a vibrant colorful place and so I've added a fair bit more color than I usually do. A lot of buildings are covered in billboards and I also added the crowds, street performers, markets, and lots of little details that bring the area to life.

Available as a limited edition 70 x 70cm fine art print on archival grade paper with fade-proof inks. Edition size of 15. This is one of my smallest edition sizes as I begin to move towards very small limited print runs of my work.
Size customization is possible, and I am happy to add small personal touches.

Framing and Delivery

Delivery for unframed prints in Taiwan is free.

Framing and delivery are available for Taiwan-based customers. I use high-quality custom black wooden frames from a framer I've worked with for over ten years. They have framed almost all of my original pieces and every exhibition I've shown in.

For this print I use a wider, deeper frame profile that suits the scale of larger pieces. An example image of the frame style is included at the end of the listing photos.

Framed prints can be collected directly from the frame shop (located near the northern end of Ningxia Night Market, Taipei) or delivered to your door. North Taiwan delivery is NT$400, covering Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, Taoyuan, Hsinchu and Yilan. All other Taiwan locations excluding offshore islands are NT$800.

Different framing styles and colors can be arranged on request. If you have something specific in mind, message me and I'll get a quote from the framer.
